This product is colorless and slightly viscous liquid, with melting point below -76 ℃, boiling point of 183.5 ℃ (101.3kPa), flashing point of 79 ℃ (closed), ignition point of 305 ℃, vapor density of 4.49 and relative density of 0.834(20 /20 ℃). It is insoluble in water and can be fully dissolved with alcohol and ether etc. in any proportion.

Application：Octyl alcohol is mainly used to produce plasticizer, such as dioctyl phthalate, Dioctyl sebacate, Bis(2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate, n-Octyl acrylate, Bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate etc plasticizer.Meanwhile, it can be used to produce photographic paper, panint, defoamer in dyeing and printing industry, dispersing agent, cleaning agent, petroleum additive, dispersing agent for raw materials, detergent, dehydrating agent and raw material of spice.
