This product is light pink to light brown crystalline powder, odorless, slightly sweet first and then spicy. It changes little in the air and shall sublimate under constant atmospheric pressure when the temperature is below 76 ° C. Being heated under constant atmospheric pressure, the product is easy to decarboxylate and turns into phenol and carbon dioxide. Its solution is acid and turns purple meeting FeCl3. It is slightly soluble in water, soluble in boiling water, easily soluble in ethanol or ether and slightly soluble in chloroform.
