外观与性状：属斜方晶系，为四角粒状或菱形晶体，无色、透明，集合体为白色、玫瑰色或绿色玻璃光泽。形状有纤维状、针状、粒状或粉末。无臭、味苦。

食品：作食品强化剂。我国规定可用于乳制品，使用量为3～7g；在饮液及乳饮料中使用量为1.4～2.8g；在矿物质饮料中最大使用量为0.05g。
